Black Rock Shooter Episode #2

WARNING!: Do not read this if you are not at least up to this point in the series.

First off, let me just get this out of the way, I actually liked the Black Rock Shooter OVA. Yeah, I know, crazy right? I've read about a lot of the hate it's got, but I thought it was really interesting. I was really hoping it would get an anime, and it finally has!

After episode 1, I definitely had to adjust to the new-ness of it. Alternate story, more characters, new character design, CG alternate world, all of which I am still adjusting to. But I think i'll get to used to and enjoy it all. I'm liking it so far, and it's already 1/4 of the way done.

Ok, i've decided after my first post that i'm not going to try to summarize the episode before I talk about it. It makes the posts longer than I want them to be, and i'm hoping that people are actually watching the same series if they are reading these posts. Anywayz, let's begin.

First off, I just have to say, crazy chick is crazy. Seriously. Even from the first episode, I could tell she was psycho. I can't tell if this whole situation with these girls are supposed to yuri, or just "extreme friendship", so to speak. Either way, it's moderately strange.

First thing I have to say about this episode is this part:

I'm guessing I don't get what the big deal is. It seemed really unnecessary, but whatever.

Next part, and yes, I had to screencap it.

Can we be sure that they're in Middle School? Just saying. Also, this shows that the other girl is crazy. I mean, seriously messed up in the fruitloop head department.

This episode also showed off at lot of the other universe, and the CG continues to be pretty good, just different from the OVA.

That scene is definitely originated from the OVA.

And in case anyone forgot, crazy girl is crazy.

Middle school girls are kinda messed up. But I have to say, the whole thing about her faking being disabled was actually something I didn't see coming. I was really expecting her to just be the crippled crazy girl that you are supposed to hate.

Seeing as how Chariot is the alternate world version of her, I was pretty happy when this happen.

Decapitation! Always fun. I wasn't expecting her to go down that quickly. What is this going to mean for the real world version of her? Is she going to be nice now?

So, this is going to be the next main villain, I guess?

I wonder who the real world version of her is going to be? If I had to make a guess, i'd say it's the conselar  lady. Because that would be completely twisted. She obviously knows something. In fact, Mato seems to be the only one that doesn't know what is going on. Anyway, back to the above screencap, this probably one of my favorite CG moments so far. The lighting and the girl's evil smile and red eyes really worked well here.

If you really think about, this show has main characters that are in middle school. The CG alternate world place they were at first was so colorful and rainbowy (yeah, it's a word. I don't care what you say.) and even the character designs seemed to me to be somewhat child-like. Despite that, in episode we saw Kagari (the crazy girl, now that I remember her name) go completely berserk and start cussing like crazy, we saw a heart carved into Yomi's chest by said crazy girl with a needle, and to top it all off, there was a straight up decapitation. Wow, this series is awesome.

I really now sure to make of all that is going on, but I like this series so far. I think unlike the OVA, they are going to HAVE to explain the connection between the two worlds. Something i'm really looking forward to.

Episode 2 rating:  9/10

Naruto Shippuden Episode 247

WARNING!: Do not read this if you are not at least up to this point in the series.

I figured i'd start out with the series that got me into anime in the first place: Naruto. I could go into such a long story about how I started watching this and how anime has changed my life, but that's not what this post is about. It's about the 247th episode of Shippuden.

I know you're probably expecting screencaps or something, but it would be kinda point since i'm not watching it on any HD place. But i'm just watching it on normal Hulu. What can I say, it's free.

Back on topic now, this episode continues where the last one left off...obviously. Naruto's mom is there to help him control the nine tails. Something that i'm sure most of us were expecting to happen from the beginning. Well, at the least the "Naruto controlling the nine tails" part anyway.

This episode had some pretty interesting revelations in it. I remember from reading the manga that a lot was revealed around chapter 500. Naruto's mom was the past Jinjericki (i'm not even going to try to spell that. Get used to it). So, then obviously, how the heck did the nine tails attack the village if she was supposed to be the host of it? Well, what a surprise, the seal weakens during childbirth. The flashback sequence began and will be carried on over the next 2 episodes more than likely. Madara/Tobi/whoever it was behind the mask at that point is about to show up and creates all sorts of trouble. Finally, we will see how the seal broke.

Wow, I somehow managed to summarize it in one paragraph. Interesting. Well, i'm more focused on my thoughts on key points of the episode rather than every little detail that happened.

So, Naruto had a lot of blue balls there at the beginning, huh? (I know this is where screencaps would be helpful, but they would be all pixelated and crap).
I have to say, it was interesting to have Naruto's mom come in at this point. It was a nice touch. For what little time she was in the series, Kushina was one of the characters I liked more than others. Her being the past host (i'll just use the word "host" instead of Jinjeruiichiki) for the nine tails was interesting idea that brought up a point I don't think a lot of people had thought of before: What was the Kyuubi doing before it attacked the village? Did everyone just assume it was just chilling somewhere and not bothering anyone and everyone was just leaving it alone?
Next point: Naruto's mom knowing Sasuke's mom in the past. Obviously there for plot purposes, but still, if only they would of known then what was going to happen with their sons. Crazy.
Seeing the 4th Hokage being "normal" was a switch. Whether it was talking about his heroics during the Kyuubi attack or the Kakashi flashback, we normally saw him in some sort of heroic role doing some sort of heroic action. But this time, he was just acting like a normal guy who finds out his wife is pregnant and then, many months later, having the baby. (they were married, right? I really hope so, other wise some jokes could be made there about Naruto.)
Anywayz, lastly, the masked man showed up to cause some trouble. We all knew this was coming, but getting to see his fight with the 4th Hokage is going to be sweet.

And there we have it, my first actual anime blog post. Kinda longer than I was expecting, but each time I do new post for a series i'm already watching, i'll have to do something like that. Hope you enjoyed reading this.

INTRO!!!

So, hello and welcome to my anime blog. I know i'm late in the game with this, and i'm sure this will never be as popular as i'd like to imagine it being in my head. But oh well. Basically, i'll be making a post after each episode I watch, and i'll talk about. I'll hopefully be a combination of funny when I want to be, but also speculative and deep when i'm trying to really think about what I watched. I missed out on blogging about the series i've already completed, such as Ergo Proxy, Ga-Rei-Zero, Angel Beats!, Kannagi, among a few others. If this actually gets people following it regularly, I might do some "In Retrospect posts and talk about them. In the mean time, enjoy reading these first 2 entries i'm about to post!

EDITING AFTERTHOUGHT: Wow, can I really not have a happy medium between the "Normal" and "Larger" font sizes? That's annoying. There probably is and i'm just being a noob.
